AirTran Airlines Completes B-737 Business Class Installation; AirTran's Entire Fleet Now Includes Business Class Seating
ORLANDO, Fla., June 8 /PRNewswire/ -- AirTran Airlines recently completed the installation of business class seating in its B-737 aircraft which completes the entire fleet consisting of 11 B-737s and 37 DC-9s.
"As demand for AirTran's business class product continues to grow, we are pleased that we can now make it available throughout our entire fleet," said Ponder Harrison, the airline's senior vice president of sales and marketing. "On a system-wide basis, we can now provide business travelers with affordable fares and comfortable seating with enough room to continue working while traveling."
Last week, AirTran completed the installation of business class seating in its B-737 aircraft with two rows of two-by-two seating. The new seating configuration consists of eight business class and 104 coach class seats.
Additionally, the DC-9 business class features four rows of two-by-two seating with a new seat configuration of 16 business class and 90 coach class seats. The DC-9 aircraft have had business class seats since December 1997.
AirTran's business class seats are only $25 more than AirTran's regular one-way full coach fare on nonstop flights and $40 more on multi-stop flights.
Business class customers can change their travel plans without penalty or receive full refunds if they cannot make their flights. As with all AirTran reservations, business class travelers will not be required to make a round-trip ticket purchase or stay over a Saturday night to take advantage of AirTran's affordable fares.
AirTran currently operates a fleet of 48 aircraft consisting of 37 DC-9s and 11 737s. The Company expects to increase its fleet size to 51 aircraft by August of 1998.
