AirTran Airways Presents Wings Over Dixie 2000 Air Show & Festival
ORLANDO, Fla., May 10 /PRNewswire/ -- AirTran Airways' Wings Over Dixie 2000 Air Show & Festival will take place this Saturday and Sunday, May 13-14, 2000, at Falcon Field in Peachtree City, Ga. As the official presenting sponsor of Wings Over Dixie 2000, AirTran Airways will host an on-site exhibition booth and will provide round-trip air travel tickets to be given away during the event. The gates open at 9:00 a.m., and the air show begins at 1:00 p.m.
Headlining Wings Over Dixie 2000 is Canada's premiere military nine-jet aerobatic team, the Canadian Forces Snowbirds. "We are very excited that the Canadian Forces Snowbirds will be performing in this year's air show," said Lewis Jordan, AirTran Airways' director and chairman of the Wings Over Dixie 2000 Air Show & Festival. "It was an honor to be selected as one of only 14 United States appearances given by the Snowbirds this year."
Other performances will include the legendary SBD Douglas "Dauntless", acknowledged as one of the most famous World War II aircraft, a four-jet F-16 performance, the airshowunlimited.com aerobatic team, Super Shockwave Jet Truck, Army helicopter and fighter jet fly-overs, plus a wide variety of rare vintage and modern military aircraft.
Tickets at the gate are $12 for adults, $6 for children 6-12, and children under six will be admitted free of charge. Proceeds from the AirTran Airways' Wings Over Dixie 2000 Air Show & Festival will benefit the Fayette Youth Protection Home, which shelters abused and neglected children, and Peachtree City Kiwanis Club, which uses funds to support dozens of local charities.
