Blog Notes: To Your Health!

Working as the blogger relations manager for PR Newswire, I come across my fair share of great blogs that cover a wide variety of subject matters and interests.   And as you might expect, some blogs are better than others. With that in mind and in an effort to highlight the better ones, I do my best to review one of these blogs every day. This week my focus is on health and fitness blogs. It’s hard to do anything well if you’re not feeling well. After all, being of a sound mind is often the result of being of a sound body. So why don’t we stretch out our legs, take a deep breath, and  lace up for a quick run through this brief roundup of some of the best health and fitness blogs I’ve seen lately.

Nerd Fitness is an exercise blog geared towards all levels of activity and all levels of aspiration. It’s the life passion of author Steve. And Steve really, really wants to help his readers achieve their fitness goals. If it’s a training regiment or a review of a stand-up desk, he’s here to help. If I were to pitch this blog, I’d go with anything to do with fitness… Maybe travel, too. Check out the full review here.

Eat This, Not That is billed as the “no diet weight-loss solution.” If the tagline were to continue, it might read, “yeah, just be a grown-up and maybe don’t eat like a college kid.” The site takes a hard – and often funny – look at how the food we eat affects the life we live. They also take a look at what exactly is in said food. Sometimes it ain’t a pretty picture. If I were to pitch this blog a food product, I’d keep in mind that they WILL check the labels… and more than likely publish the results. Check out the full review here.

Zen to Fitness is the fitness blog for people who are looking for wellness over rippling biceps. But it’s not all meditation on this blog. The site dabbles in the realms of nutrition and training, too. It’s a fitness blog, yes. But they want you to feel good, maybe even before looking good. If I were to pitch this blog, I’d look for something in personal fitness with a hint of spirituality or maybe even, religion.  Check out the full review here.

The No Meat Athlete proves that vegetarianism is no longer just for my older sisters. (Hi Lizzy! Hi Joey!) This site proves that serious endeavors of endurance – like ultra marathons let’s say – can be achieved without the aid of animal flesh. This blog has recipes, training tips and personal stories to prove that it can be done. If I were to pitch this blog, I’d look for something that sits at the intersection of sports and nutrition…. but I might leave out any chicken or salmon recipes.  Check out the full review here.

A Foodie Stays Fit is the personal blog of a woman who, as the title suggests, wants to stay fit while still eating well. From the looks of it, she may have found that balance. If I were to pitch this blog, I’d look for something that sits at the intersection of food and fitness. Or at least one or the other. Check out the full review here.

That’s all for now. In the meantime, if there’s a blog I should be reviewing, drop me a line or a note in the comments, and I’ll take a look. Until next time…
