PR Newswire: news distribution, targeting and monitoring
Dec 28 2011

HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Dec. 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Comedian/Actress Aisha Tyler's podcast Girl on Guy was designated a Best New Comedy in the iTunes Rewind 2011 year-end roundup (www.itunes.com/itunesrewind). Billed as "a show about stuff guys love brought to you by the ultimate guy's girl," Girl on Guy snagged a coveted "featured podcast" spot for the week of December 12, 2011.

Girl on Guy debuted in July in the comedy top ten, and features Aisha in wide-ranging, uncensored conversation with culture icons at the forefront of their fields. Though Aisha is a well-established comedian, Girl on Guy is more than a comedy podcast.  Aisha conducts revelatory and often poignant interviews with a wide range of dynamic guests—from well-known actors and comedians to indie rock musicians, world-class athletes, and wounded warriors.

Aisha's interview with Questlove, influential drummer of the iconic hip-hop band The Roots, is already being called by many the seminal interview with the taste-making iconoclast. Other guests include Pulitzer-nominated author Dave Eggers and Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman. An avid music fan, Aisha has delved into the lives of rock icons like Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine and punk giant Henry Rollins, and her in-depth conversation with indie rock phenoms Silversun Pickups was a featured podcast on iTunes.

"I am incredibly grateful that listeners have rated Girl on Guy so highly," says Aisha.  "I set out to make a little podcast about things and people I'm passionate about. It's grown into much more, and I'm thrilled my enthusiasm for unvarnished conversation with compelling people is shared by my audience."

Aisha Tyler is currently co-host of CBS' hit daytime show "The Talk." Entertainment Weekly called her addition a primary reason the show is "finding its voice" — the show has seen season-high ratings since her arrival. Aisha also voices the character of Lana in FX's edgy animated hit "Archer," which returns for a third season on January 19. She continues to tour nationwide as a standup comedian.

Aisha is best known as host of E!'s Emmy-nominated "Talk Soup", and the first African-American to play an extended arc on "Friends." She's enjoyed substantial roles on "CSI," "24," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Nip/Tuck," "The Boondocks," "Reno 911" and "The Ghost Whisperer," alongside numerous appearances on "The Tonight Show," "Late Night with David Letterman," "The Late Late Show," "Larry King Live," and more.

The best-selling author of "Swerve: Reckless Observations of a Post-Modern Girl," Aisha starred in numerous movies including "Death Sentence," "Balls of Fury," "Black Water Transit," "Bedtime Stories" and "The Santa Clause" films. She can be seen next in 2013's "The Babymakers," directed by Jay Chandrasekhar. Her first one-hour comedy special, "Aisha Tyler Is Lit," debuted on Comedy Central in 2009, and her latest short film, "Committed," which she wrote, directed and starred in, won the action category at the 2011 Short Toronto Indie Film Festival.

Girl on Guy with Aisha Tyler is available at www.girlonguy.net, and on iTunes.
