PR Newswire: news distribution, targeting and monitoring
Oct 3 2012

PORTLAND, Ore., Oct. 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- In an effort to partner with its customers to take mutual responsibility for the full life cycle of the products it makes and customers purchase, Patagonia today announced a kickoff event for Common Threads Second Home.  Available only at Patagonia Portland, the company will be accepting used Patagonia clothing for trade-in and sale in the Second Home Section of Patagonia Portland.  Common Threads Second Home will kickoff on Sunday, October 7th from 3-6 pm.  Patagonia staff will be on site to accept Patagonia clothing in good condition—including shells, fleece, down and synthetic insulation jackets, and ski and alpine pants—in exchange for store credit.

"The Common Threads Initiative is a partnership between Patagonia and our customers to reduce consumption and give the planet's vital resources a rest. The initiative is organized around the four R's of Reduce, Repair, Reuse, and Recycle," said Rick Ridgeway, Vice President of Environmental Initiatives. "Common Threads Second Home supports the "R" of "Reuse" by offering a trade-in program that rewards our customers who clean out their closets and garages of their used but still serviceable Patagonia products, and bring them to us so they can be put back into circulation. We invite Portlanders to join us in the Common Threads Initiative by bringing their used Patagonia gear back to us and we'll give it a second home."

In addition to local Patagonia staff, eBay staff members will attend the kickoff event to help customers sell other used Patagonia clothing online through the Patagonia Common Threads Initiative storefront on eBay.com.

Patagonia Portland's Common Threads Kickoff Event will take place at 907 NW Irving St., Suite 100 Portland, Oregon 97209. For more information or to become a partner in the Common Threads Initiative visit http://www.patagonia.com/us/common-threads/reduce.
