BEIJING, Nov. 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- GC-Rise Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd, in which European healthcare venture capital fund INVENTAGES holds a majority stake, has held series of education seminars celebrating World Menopause Day which fell on Oct. 18.

Joining hands with Peking University Hospital, GC-Rise used occasion of World Menopause Day to address many issues and concerns that women face during menopause.

Health professionals from GC-Rise and the hospital presented a list of points related to menopause at the seminars, such as medical treatment and prevention measures. The activity was also broadcast via micro-blog to facilitate interactions with participants.

Women's health during menopause has been a hot topic among the international medical community since World Menopause Day started in 1984, as menopause can affect a woman's quality of life and, more importantly, puts her at increased risk for osteoporosis, breast cancer, heart disease and stroke.

The number of women in menopause has exceeded 210 million in China, accounting for around one seventh of the total population, and the health of this growing group needs to receive much more attention.
