A Brief Blog Profile: Bike Commuters
by Thomas Hynes
How can I put this? I'm not only reviewing the blog Bike Commuters. I also am one. For the last four years, I have pedaled to work a vast majority of the time. It's easily one of the best decisions I've ever made. It's healthy. It's green. It saves time. It saves money. And, most importantly, it's a lot of fun! And let's not forget, it helps cities by easing traffic congestion and subway and bus ridership. No collection of transportation blogs would be complete without a nod to the two-wheeled lobby.
The blog provides "news, articles, product reviews, and how to’s of anything that is related to bike commuting." In fact, I'm noticing a lot of pretty cool products. For instance, there's this power trailer. I usually ride with a way-too-heavy backpack or shoulder bag. This option looks like it might be a lot easier. The blog even ventures into the controversial world of electric bikes. And, unfortunately, there's even posts like this one about the all too frequent occurrences of bike theft.
Bike Commuter is a fun blog to read. But, it's also an important resource for this growing concern of alternative transportation. In cities across the country, bike commuting is not only embraced. It's also encouraged. Because, biking is not just beneficial to people. It's also good for the cities.
