A Brief Blog Profile: The Book Smugglers
by Thomas Hynes
The Book Smugglers is more than a book blog. It's the story of Ana and Thea, two women whose obsession with books borders on addiction. To hear them tell it, they were spending almost all of their disposable income on an ever growing list of books to read. So what did they do? They began getting the books delivered at work and, with the help of a few over-sized handbags, began smuggling them home.
In other words, they have a problem. But, they also have this blog. And, look, my job's not to diagnose people's problems. My job is to review their blogs. On the blog, they discuss what books are on their radar. Or, put another way, what books they want in their "stash." On this post, they describe a cover as being smugglerific. This post also includes a giveaway. So it can't be said that these gals are 'bogarting' all the books to themselves.
Honestly, it's fun teasing this blog. It's fun calling them mules. But, really being addicted to books is probably one of the more socially-responsible addictions out there. And, it's not like they're just cramped in some dusty crack den of books. They're sharing this addiction with the world. Something positive, namely The Book Smugglers blog, has come from it.
