A Brief Blog Profile: Dr. Vino
by Thomas Hynes
The wine blog Dr. Vino offers "wine talk that goes down easy." And I was surprised to learn this, but Dr. Vino actually is a doctor. He has a Ph.D. Not only does he blog about wine, he also talks and teaches about it. He's written two books on wine, too. But, instead of writing prescriptions on this site, he writes on how aspiring connoisseurs can get the most value from their wines.
The blog actually offers all types of information. For example, this post features a bottle of sauvignon blanc that runs for $2,500 a bottle. And, no. It's not a REALLY big bottle of wine. This post discusses the recent trend of Chinese buyers purchasing chateaus in Bordeaux. This post, on the other hand discusses the future of wine labels, along with the prospect that at some point nutrition labels might become commonplace. On this post, the Doctor discusses something called a wine kegerator. And, finally, here he discusses how some foods cannot be paired with wines. To illustrate this point, he showcases something called the douche burger.
Dr. Vino may not be able to alleviate the common cold. But, if your affliction, like mine, is not knowing much about wine, there's probably no better cure than this blog.
