A Brief Blog Profile: FilmDrunk
by Thomas Hynes
I'm a big movie buff, so it's no surprise that I really wanted to get some film blogs up here. Yes, there are a ton of great movie blogs out there, and I'll get to most of them before too long. But if you're asking me what my go-to, hands-down favorite movie blog is, without a doubt it's FilmDrunk.
But that's just... like... my opinion, man. (Name the movie! They'd get the reference over at FilmDrunk, FOR SURE.) Go ahead and take a look at the site for yourself. Take a look at how they kept tabs on last year's top 10 biggest flops, (hopefully so we don't ever have to watch them). Or watch a preview of the new Margaret Thatcher biopic starring Meryl Streep and giggle as they review it in a cockney tone. Either that, or feel the disdain in their voices as they report on the inevitability of an Angry Birds movie.
Now similar to their Uproxx-brethren, Warming Glow, FilmDrunk at times sounds like it's written for (or even by) teenagers. But you'll be hard pressed to find anyone who loves movies more than they do. And it's not just admiration. They also know a thing or two about cinema, too. The site's tone shifts from boredom, to frustration, to excitement, to nostalgia. Come to think of it, most of my conversations about movies sound awfully similar.
