A Brief Blog Profile: The Other Side of the Tortilla
by Thomas Hynes
The Other Side of the Tortilla is a food blog that gets its name from "the idea that you may have eaten something a thousand times, but if you just look at it in a different way (namely ingredient by ingredient), you’ll notice something new about it that you didn’t see before." The blog was started after Maura married Jose in 2008. They began spending time with his family in Mexico City. So, in a way, this is also a travel and photography blog.
On the blog, you can see these pictures of paletas, the delicious frozen lemon treat combined with chill-lime salt. On this post, you can see a picture of something called hot sauce heaven, which certainly looks divine. And it's not all pictures. On this post, you can read about how to keep your guacamole fresh and green. And on this post, you can learn about what, in my opinion, is the least celebrated of all tacos: the breakfast taco.
The Other Side of the Tortilla is a great food blog (with great photographs). But, it's also the story of a married couple. It's also the story of discovery. There's a whole world of things to learn and see. It just depends on how we see it. It depends on where we look.
