A Brief Blog Profile: Slash Film
by Thomas Hynes
The tagline of Slash Film is "blogging the reel world." And if you know me, you know I love me some good puns. But it turns out this is a great movie blog, regardless of the word play. The site was launched in 2005. Within a month they had a team of 20 bloggers. Not long after that they began to cement their reputation as one of the premier online destinations for movie reviews and news.
I could also go on and on about all the awards Slash Film has won. I could tell you about the Best Blogs of 2009 designation they received from TIME Magazine. Or I could tell you that Kevin Smith (director of "Clerks", "Chasing Amy", "Mallrats", etc) has reviewed movies on this blog. Stephen Tobolowsky (i.e., Needle Nose Ned from "Groundhog Day"!) has also contributed. I might also mention that Darren Aronofsky (director of "Pi", "The Wrestler", "The Black Swan", etc.) reads the blog regularly.
And I can understand why. It's a great blog. Aside from the movie reviews and news, there's also this feature simply called "cool stuff." There you can find items like this list of Stanley Kubrick movie titles in need of a script. Or maybe you'd prefer this Lego model of "Hill Valley from Back to the Future II". One thing I do know is that anyone who loves movies even half as much as these folks do will love this blog.
