A Brief Blog Profile: Stumptuous

by Thomas Hynes

Stumptuous is technically a gender neutral weightlifting blog. But, the site has definitely "geared some of the advice to the probable concerns of female readers."  The blog's name comes from the conjunction of the words stumpy and sumptuous. This conjunction (or condition) could be have once described the blog's author when she first started training. As she is quick to point out, though, "a lot of that 'built for comfort, not for speed' padding is gone."

And that's just it. This blog is funny. Or anyway, it's definitely got its own voice. For instance, the first headline that really caught my eye was this one on Yoga for Fighters. That's a pretty contradictory premise. But, part of me also really gets it. Boxing (or "fighting"), like most things in life, requires flexibility. Even if they do appear to be at odds with one another, they probably are also both mutually beneficial. Here they reveal the lies people are told in the gym, and here they document the golden years of pumping iron into old age.

Stumptuous, among other things, smashes the preconceptions on who  belongs in the gym. And it does so with not only humor, but also insight. Personally, I find both to be pretty valuable.

News Widget

Our widget allows you to display PR Newswire content on your site with very little back-end programming required.  You not only get the headline, but also the body of text of the news release, keeping the user on your site at all times.  In order to do so, the difference between our Widget and other widgets is at the end of the sign-up process, you will be provided with two pieces of source code -- one for the page where the Widget itself will be displayed and one for the pages that will display the body of text of each news release.  In addition, the sign-up process allows you to have 100 percent control over every aspect of the Widget's appearance, so that the Widget can blend in fully with the look and feel of your site. Still not convinced? Here's what one blogger had to say about the widget.
