Highlights
In 1998, Republic Bank was the Number One SBA Lender in the State of Michigan for the fifth consecutive year and a Preferred Lender, the highest designation attainable by a lending institution. On January 1, 1999, Republic Bank and Republic Savings Bank were combined to enhance customer service throughout the Midwest and improve operating efficiencies. The combined bank had total assets of $2.2 billion at December 31, 1998. Total deposits grew to $1.4 billion at December 31, 1998. Commercial loan closings reached $263 million and SBA loan closings were $39 million. Republic Bank and its subsidiaries closed $6.1 billion in residential mortgage loans in 1998.
