New York Metro Region

New York Daily News (New York, NY) -- The newsroom at the Daily News was stunned when management announced it was replacing Editor-in-Chief Kevin Convey with Colin Myler, a relative stranger to the newsroom family. Myler (cmyler@nydailynews.com) was previously the editor of the now defunct News of the World in England. Convey had been with the News for 1.5 years. 

The Wall Street Journal (New York, NY) -- Reporter Kirsten Grind (kirsten.grind@wsj.com) has been hired to cover asset-management firms and personal finance for the Money & Investing section. She arrives from Portfolio.com. Also, a number of beat changes have been announced. Former Sports Industry Reporter Reed Albergotti (reed.albergotti@wsj.com) is now covering the New York courts. Former Hedge Fund Reporter Steve Eder (steve.eder@wsj.com) is now the National Legal Reporter. Adding to their coverage area: Legal Affairs Reporter Jennifer Smith (jennifer.smith@wsj.com), who will also handle the corporate law and law firm beats and Legal Blogger Joe Palazzolo (joe.palazzolo@wsj.com), who adds foreign bribery, judges and plaintiff's bar beats. Meanwhile, Raju Narisetti (raju.narisetti@wsj.com) returns to the WSJ after a stint at The Washington Post. Narisetti takes on dual roles as Deputy Managing Editor of the print version and Managing Editor of the online version of the paper.

Newsday (Melville, NY) -- Two additions to announce at this Long Island paper: Betty Ming Liu (betty.liu@newsday.com) is the new Westchester County Reporter covering the environment, development and business. She was previously a Contributing Art Writer for am New York. Al Iannazzone (al.iannazzone@newsday.com) has been hired as an NBA Reporter covering the New York Knicks. He was previously a Sports Writer in New Jersey.

This Week - ABC Television Network (New York, NY) -- Senior Executive Producer of News Jon Banner (jon.banner@abc.com) will now also be Executive Producer of "This Week." Current EP Rick Kaplan (http://www.twitter.com/rickkaplanabc) has relinquished the position. He will continue, however, as an ABC News Producer covering the 2012 U.S. elections.

WABC-TV (New York, NY) -- One-time Freelance Reporter Kristin Thorne is now a full-time Staff Reporter with this Big Apple station. Thorne has a Twitter account at http://www.twitter.com/kristinthorne

The New York Times (New York, NY) -- Former WSJ-er Peter Eavis (peter.eavis@nytimes.com) has been hired by the NYT as a Finance and Markets Reporter for Business Day and DealBook. Securitization Intelligence (New York, NY) -- Along with a name change from Total Securitization & Credit Investment to Securitization Intelligence, the publication has changed Managing Editors. Graham Bippart (gbippart@iinews.com), previously of Real Estate Finance & Investment at Euromoney Institutional Investor will be the new Managing Editor here.

The Village Voice (New York, NY) -- Co-workers were stunned when veteran Film Critic Jim Hoberman was let go.  Hoberman had been with the paper since 1983. 

Dow Jones Newswires (New York, NY) -- Mike Cherney (mike.cherney@dowjones.com) has been hired as Municipal Bonds Reporter at the wire service. His resume includes stops at Debtwire and Law360.

Journal of Urgent Care Medicine (Ramsey, NJ) -- Neil Chesanow has stepped down from his position as Editor for the publication and is now a freelance writer. Chesanow who has been with the publication since April 2011, has been replaced by Judy Orvog (jorvos@jucm.com) as Editor.

The Record (Woodland Park, NJ) -- The Record has named Martin Gottlieb as its new Editor.  He replaced Frank Scandale, who left the paper in late October.  Martin Gottlieb may be reached at gottlieb@northjersey.com.

Thomson Reuters (New York, NY) -- Four new hires here: Matthew Keys (matthew.keys@thomsonreuters.com) is now Thomson Reuters' Deputy Social Media Editor. He arrives from KGO-TV in San Francisco. Mr. Carrick Mollenkamp (carrick.mollenkamp@thomsonreuters.com) has been hired as a Wall Street Reporter. He previously covered banking for The Wall Street Journal. Heather Struck (heather.struck@thomsonreuters.com) joins as Web Editor for the personal finance and wealth section. She was formerly a Reporter at Forbes. Finally, Joan Biskupic (joan.biskupic@thomsonreuters.com) is the new Legal Affairs Editor-in-Charge. NOW with Alex Wagner - MSNBC Network (New York, NY) -- Robert Gifford (robert.gifford@nbcuni.com) has been named Senior Producer at this new MSNBC program. He held the same position at "Morning Joe" also on MSNBC.

Andrea Mitchell Reports - NBC Television Network (New York, NY) -- Subrata De (subrata.de@nbcuni.com) has been named Executive Producer for this program. She was previously a Senior Producer for NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams.

NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams - NBC Television Network (New York, NY) -- Jennifer Suozzo (jennifer.suozzo@nbcuni.com) joins the nightly evening show as Senior Broadcast Producer.  She was previously Executive Producer at Andrea Mitchell Reports, also on NBC.

ESPN (Bristol, CT) -- Jim Rome (jim.rome@espn.com) steps down from his role as Host of the Jim Rome is Burning show. He is set to join the CBS Sports Network as Host for the newly created weekend show titled "Rome". The show is set to air some time in April. In addition, he is set to host a Showtime Networks Inc. program in Fall of 2012. For the time being, he will resume hosting his show, The Jim Rome Show. 

ESPN Radio Network (Bristol, CT) -- Debuting on ESPN Radio is a new sports show called "Hill & Schlereth" which will be hosted by Former NFL player Mark Schlereth (mark.schlereth@epsn.com) and ESPN Analyst Mike Hill (mark.hill@espn.com). The newly launched show will feature a variety of an interactive listener platform which will include emails, live chat rooms for listeners, texts and tweets from the show.

Solid State Technology (Nashua, NH) -- Debra Vogler has stepped down from her position as Senior Technical Editor and ElectroIQ. Formerly, she served as Contributing Writer for Link2Semi and Semiconductor Magazine.

WXRV-FM (Haverhill, MA.) -- Catie Wilbur steps down from her role as Program Director and Music Director at the local station WXRV-FM. Replacing her position is Mike Henry (mike.henry@wxrv.com) who will take the role of Program Director.

WFXT-TV (Dedham, MA) -- After seven years of working with the station, Kim Carrigan has decided to step down from her post as Morning Anchor.

WTIC-TV (Hartford, CT) -- Joining the station is Jan Carabeo (jcarabeo@ctnow.com) who will take the role as General Assignment Reporter for the Fox-affiliated station. Previously, Carabeo served as General Assignment Reporter at WSYR-TV, an ABC-affiliate in Syracuse. 

WBZ-AM (Boston, MA) -- Joe Mathieu (joe.mathieu@cbsradio.com) will now host the newly added one-hour morning talk show called “News Watch”. The show will air on late Thursday mornings. 

WFXT-TV (Dedham, MA) -- The station welcomes aboard new hire Heather Hegedus (heather.hegedus@foxtv.com) who will now serve as Weekend Evening Anchor. She will replace Shannon Mulaire, who has been promoted to Weekday Morning Anchor. Prior, Hegedus served as a Weekend Morning Anchor at the CBS-affiliate WFSB-TV in Hartford, CT. 

WVIT-TV (Hartford,CT) -- Chris Coffey (chris.coffey@nbcuni.com) is set to join the news team as a General Assignment Reporter. Previously, he worked at KEYE-TV as a Reporter in Austin, TX. 

WCVB-TV (Needham. MA) -- Betsy Braun, a former VP of programming at NBC Universal Television Distribution, has been named Program Director at both WCVB-TV and WMUR-TV. You can contact Braun at bbraun@hearst.com. 

WLNE-TV (Providence, RI) -- Irene Mahoney Page has resigned from her position as News Director just after four months of being with the station. The station now welcomes Bob Rockstroh (brockstroh@abc6.com) as News Director replacing Page. Prior, Rockstroh has been a  News Director in Hartford and EP for FiOS, Verizon’s News in New York City.

Cherokee Tribune (Canton, GA) --  Reporter Brandon Wilson was arrested after being charged earlier this January for soliciting a prostitute at a nearby Canton hotel. His employer, the Cherokee Tribune, has fired Wilson for misconduct of the alleged charges.

WTXL-TV (Midway,FL) -- Exiting the ABC affiliate is veteran News Director Bill Cummings who is leaving his role to take a new position at Yuma, AZ .

WSB-TV (Atlanta, GA) -- News Director Marian Pittman (marian.pittman@wsbtv.com) has been promoted to Station Manager. She has served as News Director since 2006.

WPSD-TV (Paducah, KY) -- Stepping down from her role as Weekend Evening Anchor is Jennifer Horbelt. Horbelt, an award-winning journalist, has decided to take a position with KOAA-TV in Colorado where she will Co-Anchor the weekday morning news program.

WCJB-TV (Gainesville, FL) -- Duke Carter (dcarter@wcjb.com) joins the newscast as General Assignment Reporter. Prior, he has worked with WVLA-TV at Baton Rouge, LA as a Reporter.

WOFL-TV (Orlando, FL) -- Added to the news roster is Tiffany Teasley (tiffany.teasley@foxtv.com) who will join the FOX affiliate as a General Assignment Reporter. Previously, she served as a Reporter for WXIX-TV in Cincinnati. Teasley currently holds her Master’s from Medill School of Journalism.

WMC-TV (Memphis, TN) -- The NBC affiliate announced the promotion of Tammy Phillips (tphillips@wmctv.com), who takes a new role as News Director for the station. She has replaced Tracey Rogers, who took a position as General Manager at KAIT-TV in Jonesboro, AR. Phillips has worked with the station for over ten years and recently leaves her post as Assistant News Director.

WSOC-TV (Charlotte, NC) -- Set to join the morning newscast is Peter Daut (peter.daut@wsoc-tv.com) who will now serve as the Morning Anchor early this March. He will Co-Host the morning news segment with Allison Latos from 4:30 to 7:00 a.m. Daut arrives from KDFW-TV in Dallas, TX.

WFTX-TV (Cape Coral, FL) -- The station announces Amy Wegmann’s decision to take an indefinite leave of absence while her husband, Trey Radel runs for Congress for Florida’s 14th Congressional District. Wegmann’s leave of absence allows the station to cover his campaign while avoiding potential conflicts. Radel was a former anchor at WINK-TV.

Naples Daily News (Naples, FL) -- The daily names Jeff C. Bruce (jbruce@naplesnews.com) as its new Managing Editor. He will be responsible for overseeing the news and sports content. Prior, Bruce worked as an editor for Dayton Daily News.

WTVJ-TV (Miami, FL) -- Evening Anchor Kevin Corke exits this NBC affiliate. Corke has been with the station since October of 2009 . He has previously worked at ESPN.

South Florida Sun Sentinel (Fort Lauderdale, FL) -- Scott Wyman steps down from his role as City Hall Reporter. Replacing his position is Brittany Wallman (bwallman@sun-sentinel.com) who will serve as the County Government Senior Reporter covering the Broward County bureau.

Detroit Free Press (Detroit, MI) -- Business and Automotive Editor Sarah Webster has left the daily publication. Automotive Editor Greg Gardner (ggardner@freepress.com) and Business Editor Christopher Kirkpatrick (ckirkpatrick@freepress.com) will replace Webster. As part of the new commitment to investigative reporting, Producer Lisa Capitanini joins the station. Capitanini recently spent 13 years as a Senior Investigative Producer for WBBM-TV (CBS) in Chicago. She also wrote and reported for The Chicago Reporter, which has a non-profit partnership with WMAQ. Lauren Petty is also joining the station as a General Assignment Reporter. Petty comes from WVIT-TV, the NBC O&O in Hartford, where she anchors the weekend evening newscasts and serves as a Reporter during the week. Chris Tye (christye@wkyc.com) will replace Morning Anchor Mark Nolan, who decided to leave the station. Sports Anchor Jim Donovan (jimdonovan@wkyc.com) will assume additional duties as News Anchor of the 7:00 p.m. newscast, replacing Tye. (Madison, WI) -- Michelle Carolla has been named Primary Anchor for the station. Carolla recently anchored the news at WFXB-TV in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

WOIO-TV (Cleveland, OH) -- Romona Robinson has landed another news anchoring position with a Cleveland station. Robinson has joined this CBS affiliate, anchoring the station’s afternoon and evening newscasts. Robinson parted ways with the NBC affiliate station WKYC-TV at the end of last year after failed negotiations to extend her contract. A day after announcing that Romona Robinson had been hired for afternoon and evening anchor duties, WOIO-TV confirmed the departure of two Anchor-Reporters, Sharon Reed and Lynna Lai.

WCPO-TV (Cincinnati, OH) -- Traffic Reporter Denise Johnson has been let go at the ABC-affiliate. Johnson is officially employed by a company called Metro Traffic Networks, but has been reporting exclusively for WCPO-TV.

WRTV-TV (Indianapolis, IN)-- The ABC-affiliate has promoted Freelance Reporter Jenna Kooi (previously known as Jenna Maloney) to Anchor the 7:00 and 11:00 p.m. newscasts alongside Todd Connor (todd_connor@wrtv.com). Erika Flye (ericka_flye@wrtv.com), who currently anchors the 5:00 p.m. newscast with Connor, will extend her duties to include the 6:00 p.m. newscast.

WILX-TV (Lansing, MI) – This NBC-affiliate is going to switch up newscasts assignments. Previously, the morning and evening newscasts were anchored solo with Lauren Evans (lauren.evans@wilx.com) in the morning, David Andrews at 5:00 and 6:00 p.m., and Jason Colthorp at 11:00 p.m. With the change, Colthorp (jason.colthorp@wilx.com) and Evans will be paired to anchor the 5:00, 6:00, and 11:00 p.m. newscasts, and Andrews (david.andrews@wilx.com) will take over the morning newscasts.

WGN-TV (Chicago, IL) --Trial Reporter Muriel Clair is leaving the Tribune-owned station. Clair will continue special projects on a freelance basis, including the “Teacher of the Month” feature.

WOOD-TV (Grand Rapids, MI) -- Reporter Anne Schieber is leaving the NBC-affiliate to join the Mackinac Center for Public Policy as a Senior Investigative Analyst.

Time Out Chicago (Chicago, IL) -- John Dugan is leaving his post as Senior Web Editor and Nightlife Editor.

WLS-AM (Chicago, IL) -- Brothers and Reporters Dan and Anthony Ponce join the talk station with a news show, “Dan & Anthony Ponce,” set to air Sundays from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. The brothers are no stranger to the Chicago broadcast industry. Dan previously worked at WLS-TV and currently works as a General Assignment Reporter for WGN-TV, a position he will continue when the radio show launches. Anthony has worked at WMAQ-TV. The two are sons of Chicago broadcaster Phil Ponce, the current host of “Chicago Tonight” on WTTW-TV.
