(Nov. 16, 2007) / PRNewswire / – Millions of country music fans who missed out on Garth Brooks' series of sold-out concerts in Kansas City earlier this month can experience the music and the magic on Great American Country television network as GAC presents Garth: One Man, One City, One Night, a 90-minute music special premiering Thanksgiving weekend, Friday Nov. 23 at 8 p.m. ET. The GAC exclusive is the first TV special capturing a Garth Brooks' concert experience since he retired from touring at the height of his career nine years ago and is his first televised concert since 2001. GAC was in Kansas City to document the final night of the nine-concert series, where fans packed the new Sprint Center, standing on their feet from the first notes to the last. The GAC music special includes Brooks' stage performance of many of his biggest songs, including his current hit single "More Than A Memory." The Thanksgiving holiday GAC special anchors a weekend filled with family-oriented programming devoted to Garth Brooks, his music and his life story. Other GAC exclusives included in the holiday lineup are:
Promoting the network as "The Home of Garth Brooks," GAC also has produced The Road to Garth, a series of brief segments showing Brooks and his band in preparation for the historic concert event. The Road to Kansas City will air on GAC all week in anticipation of the premiere of Garth: One Man, One City, One Night. "GAC focuses on the country fan. That's what we do," Brooks said. "We're on country radio, our shows are country music, and GAC is country music, so it just makes sense." Brooks initially planned to play one concert in Kansas City on November 14, but the public's desire to see his return to the stage prompted him to expand the number of live shows. Tickets for all nine performances sold out in less than two hours. "GAC has been sweet enough to help us share this experience with millions of people. If there's that many people who want to see it, then GAC is going to be our home and that's where you're going to be able to find us," Brooks said. "The experience at his Kansas City show was incredible --from Garth's performing hit after hit to the electrifying fan experience. We are proud to give our GAC viewers a rare front-row seat to this exclusive concert event," said Ed Hardy, president, GAC. GAC will present encore showings of the concert special at midnight Friday and on Saturday Nov. 24 at 10 p.m. ET. Check GACTV.com for future air times. Garth Brooks recently was honored as the No. 1 selling solo artist in American music history, with album sales in excess of 123 million.
