TWO MOTHERS INVENT ORGANIC HUGGY SLUGGYS TO HELP TEACH CHILDREN HOW TO PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT

November 1, 2007—Jupiter, FL—The increasing number of product recalls is a concern to anyone. Knowing exactly what material a toy has been made from, how it has been made right down to the contents of the stuffing is paramount. Feeling uncertain about many store bought toys left two mothers looking for an alternative.

Alyson Hawkins and Susie Smith started sewing soft toys out of organic materials for Alyson's newborn baby boy. The concept of Huggy Sluggy's started to evolve. The two mothers wanted to develop a product made in the USA to teach their children, and all children, how to make the world a better place. See www.huggysluggys.com.

"After reading about the third toy recall in one month for lead-tainted toys manufactured in China, I know we made the right decision in creating Huggy Sluggys," commented Smith. "These earth friendly toys are organic cotton inside and out and made with love in the USA."

"We wanted to create an interest and desire for children to do their part in saving our earth," says Hawkins. "In the process, their children, their friends and families would become more involved too."

Each Huggy Sluggy is 18" tall made with soft, chemical free organic cotton. Each stuffed animal comes packaged with a book printed on recycled paper in an earth friendly reusable bag. The book is an educational tool filled with entertaining poems and insightful information to teach children how to do their part in taking care of the earth.

Six characters were created and named after the womens' kids and dog. Each character has a mission - Sir Slug Brady saves our trees, Madame Slug Caylee protects the animals, Sir Slug Bryson respects the ozone, Madame Slug Holland promotes healthy living from eating organic, Sir Slug Charlie recycles and Madame Slug Ady asks that you take care of our oceans.

Organic toys, made from cotton and processed without chemicals, provide quality and safety. Smith says "Your child will be safer handling organic cotton that is free of chemicals and pesticides but you are also helping our earth." Organic agriculture uses 50% less energy and reduces water pollution by 75%.

Future plans are for a kid friendly interactive website with games and educational content.
