1 Beyond and axle Video introduce the 1 Beyond LTOMac™-axle Database, Archiving and Media Management capabilities for $9,995
BOSTON, Mass., April 2, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- 1 Beyond, an award-winning systems provider for the professional video market, and axle Video, a developer of software for radically simple media management, today announced the 1 Beyond LTOMac™-axle, a compact, all-in-one solution for networked archiving of video and other large media files, for $9,995 complete. The 1 Beyond system includes an embedded Mac mini running axle Video's axle 2012 software, which supports tiered storage and archive/restore workflows. It also includes an LTO-6 tape drive, a 4 TB Database disk and a Gigabit Ethernet network connection. An additional software transcode option, priced at $995, leverages Telestream Episode Pro technology.
Sam Bogoch, CEO of axle Video, said, "The 1 Beyond LTOMac-axle appliance is a unique system that offers converged archiving and media management, in an impressively compact and user-friendly package. We're thrilled to be collaborating with 1 Beyond on this key initiative, and to be able to contribute our software technology in making the overall system as radically simple, as well as network accessible, as possible."
Terry Cullen, CEO of 1 Beyond, said, "We love being out front and the 1 Beyond LTOMac-axle achieves another industry first: a cost effective, standards-based solution, providing the industry what it needs now: safe, searchable archives with browser-based simplicity. As with other 1 Beyond products it's "turnkey"; no hardware or software installation required; it works out-of-the box and is supported by 1Beyond's experienced video technicians."
The 1 Beyond LTOMac-axle is versatile: It can be used in the facility to manage media assets on servers and workstations. Because of its small footprint and portable design, it can also be used in the field as part of the dailies process to give browser-based proxy file viewing, review and approval from anywhere.
A key advantage of the 1 Beyond LTOMac-axle is its "PURE" LTFS implementation. There are no additional layers of software between axle and the data on the tape. This makes for efficient backup and retrieval, and ensures universal compatibility and long term readability.
