Statement by the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, on the Occasion of the Presentation of the Writers' Trust Awards
TORONTO, Nov. 7, 2012 /CNW/ - Arts and culture enrich the lives of all Canadians, while strengthening our communities and our economy. The men and women who dedicate themselves to literature play an essential role in our society. They are a source of pride and inspiration.
This year, the Writers' Trust Awards will present six awards and more than $100,000 to winners to celebrate the outstanding work of Canadians in literature.
On behalf of Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the Government of Canada, I would like to commend this year's nominees and winners of the Writers' Trust Awards. I applaud all Canadian artists who distinguish themselves through the exceptional quality of their works and their commitment to arts and culture in Canada.
