DALLAS, May 20, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The 1800 CAR WRECK team is mourning the loss of William "Bill" Blair, whom through his accomplishments became a strong leader and voice for the African American community in Dallas. Blair, a former Negro Leagues pitcher and founder of Elite News, died after a long illness at the age of 92. Says the law firm of Eberstein & Witherite, "having recently begun building our relationship with Elite News, we were saddened to hear about the passing of Mr. Blair, but will hold him dear to our memory and appreciate the great strides he has made as a leader in our community."

The 1800 CAR WRECK team salutes Blair, who was highly regarded for his dedication to public service. After serving in the military and retiring from baseball, he founded Southwest Sports News in 1947, which became Elite News in 1960. Blair is survived by his wife of 70 years, two sons, three daughters, and several grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two other sons.
