WASHINGTON, Feb. 14, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A panel representing leaders of Boeing's 26,000–member engineers' union – including the Executive Director of SPEEA, Ray Goforth , Paul Shearon , the Secretary-Treasurer of SPEEA's national organization, IFPTE and three employee members of the union's bargaining teams – will discuss this week's contract and strike votes, the impact of a possible strike by engineers and/or technical workers and the recently started negotiations by the Boeing pilots unit of SPEEA.

With talks ongoing for more than one year, SPEEA is fighting elimination of the defined benefit pension for new engineers and technical workers. For the pilots, the key issues include continued outsourcing of work to contractors and the loss of job security. SPEEA has struck twice before: a one-day walkout in 1993, and a 40-day stoppage in 2000.
The National Press Club Newsmakers news conference is scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 22, 2013 in the club's Zenger Room on the 13th Floor of the National Press Building, 529 14th St., NW, Washington, D.C.
