2014 Honda Accord Remains at Top of Mid-size Car Market When compared to the 2014 Ford Fusion, the 2014 Honda Accord is the superior vehicle
SAN ANTONIO, Sept. 19, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- One of the trickiest markets for manufacturers and consumers is the ever-popular mid-size car market. It's the market which sees the highest amount of sales, so manufacturers release a variety of models into the highly-competitive segment. It makes it difficult for consumers, because a new car is always being released. However, out of all the available vehicles— including those outside of the mid-size car market—only the Honda Accord has made Car and Driver's 10 Best Cars list for 27 consecutive years. To further display the superiority of the Honda Accord in the mid-size car market, Benson Honda, a dealership in San Antonio, compared the 2014 Honda Accord vs 2014 Ford Fusion.
The dealership reported that the 2014 Honda Accord is a great car for families, while the Ford Fusion is better suited for commuters who will travel alone. Their claim was based on the capacity of the vehicles, which is much more spacious in the Accord than it is in the Fusion. The trunk volume of the Accord is about 2.6 cubic feet—about the size of suitcase—larger than the Fusion. Passenger volume is also larger by a substantial 12.5 cubic feet. That allows for more head and leg room, making it possible to comfortably seat five full-sized adults in the Honda Accord.
The larger size of the Accord comes with a justifiable weight increase, but the higher-output engine is able to compensate for it. The Honda Accord is capable of 185 horsepower where the Ford Fusion only has an output of 160 horsepower. Consumers are sure to enjoy that the larger size doesn't cause the fuel economy to suffer. Though only a difference of 1 MPG in each cycle, the Accord still beats out the Fusion with a 36 MPG highway/27 MPG city rating.
As the Honda Accord is one of Honda's prized possessions, the mid-sized car will be offered in a variety of models including a sedan, coupe, hybrid and plug-in.
