2014 Range Rover loses weight, gains MPG Luxury SUV available at Land Rover of San Antonio
SAN ANTONIO, Nov. 29, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- For the top of the line in available luxury in the SUV automotive segment, there is almost nothing that can compete with the 2014 Range Rover available from Land Rover of San Antonio. Generations of continual development has resulted in the new 2014 Range Rover having, arguably, the most plush and luxurious interior and some of the highest performance scores ever seen in a vehicle that is equally comfortable at work or play. Being on the cutting edge of luxury SUV design, the new Range Rover has received a new engine for base trims and a fuel-saving start/stop feature has been added to the supercharged V-8 engines that are available on the higher trim models.
Among the changes made to the 2014 Range Rover that distinguishes it from previous versions, as well as the competition, a crisp new styling that keeps pace with contemporary design standards but still retains the classic lines that make Land Rover-made products recognizable the world over. Additionally, Land Rover engineers have dropped the overall curb weight of the 2014 Range Rover. Engineers have gone with a lightweight body design that is mostly made of aluminum, resulting in a 700-pound drop in weight. This advancement in design and construction methodology has resulted in a number of improvements to the new Range Rovers performance.
Powering the new 2014 Range Rover at the base level is a new supercharged 3.0-liter, V-6 engine. When this engine is paired with the eight-speed automatic transmission it will produce 340 horsepower and 332 pound feet of torque. Even with the full-time, four-wheel drive system the new Range Rover with the V-6 engine will get an Environmental Protection Agency-estimated 17 miles per gallon in the city and 23 miles per gallon on the highway; placing it very much in line with other vehicles in the same industry segment. Also the supercharged V-6 engine is capable of moving the Range Rover from zero-to-60 mpg in 7.1 seconds.
For those that require more performance in terms of horsepower and capability, there is also a supercharged V-8 engine available that makes 510-horsepower with 461 pound-feet of torque. This powertrain combination will accelerate the 2014 Range Rover from zero-to-60 mph in 4.7 seconds.
