LIBERTYVILLE, Ill., May 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- On Wednesday, May 28, more than 100,000 older adults will participate in local health and wellness events at 1,000+ locations across the country on the same day.
More than 70 Florida organizations will host local health events on May 28 to celebrate National Senior Health & Fitness Day. The goal of this "FitnessDay" event: To promote the importance of regular physical activity, and to showcase what local groups are doing to help improve the health and fitness of older adults in their communities.
For the 4th year, Florida Blue is the Official State Sponsor of National Senior Health & Fitness Day. As part of its sponsorship participation, 11 Florida Blue Retail Centers across the state will host free health and fitness activities on Wednesday, May 28. The centers are located in Jacksonville, Tampa, Pensacola, Tallahassee, Winter Park, Winter Haven, Sarasota, Fort Myers, Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami.

Other local Florida groups hosting Senior Day activities include senior centers; retirement communities; Ys/JCCs, and health clubs; park and recreation districts; hospitals and health systems; and local aging organizations.
