"Mini-IPO," is the nickname given to the SEC Regulation A+ process that companies can use to raise capital.
There are several key differences between initiating a Regulation A+ Offering and an Initial Public Offering when undertaking a capital raise. Both types of offerings possess different advantages to accommodate a variety of companies and investors.
Regulation A+ went into effect in June of 2015 with the intent of reviving the smaller IPO market by allowing companies to accept funds from both accredited and non-accredited investors. This revolutionary option affords more flexible and adaptable financing options to companies raising growth capital. Since June 2015, there have been almost 200 "Mini-IPOs," filed with SEC: Elio Motors being the most famous.
