53 Cleveland Area Giant Eagle Stores Celebrate Grand Opening

    CLEVELAND, Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Giant Eagle is here, and starting
 tomorrow, will make life simple for people in greater Cleveland.
     Tomorrow, the 53 area Stop-n-Shop stores will officially change their
 banner to Giant Eagle.  With this change comes new brands such as Aunt
 Martha's pies from The Bake Shop, River City Chicken and Pizza Di Casa from
 The Kitchens at Giant Eagle; new services, including expanded health and
 beauty products sections, the Eagle's Nest play area for children and
 pharmacies (see following list for locations); the Giant Eagle Advantage
 Card(R); and expanded hours of operation for 22 of the Giant Eagle locations
 (see following list for 24-hour stores).
     To celebrate the grand opening, a plethora of activities has been
 scheduled at all 53 stores.  Current and retired Indians players, Slider,
 Cleveland Browns Alumni, and Miss Ohio are just a few of the celebrities who
 will stop by the new Giant Eagle stores to greet customers and sign
 autographs.  Area radio stations will also host remote broadcasts from the new
 Giant Eagle locations.  Hundreds of prizes and giveaways are in the works.

     In addition to Giant Eagle's commitment to its customers, the company
 focuses heavily on community involvement.  Giant Eagle has provided millions
 of dollars in support for local causes, events and non-profit groups in
 communities it serves.  Northeast Ohio will be no exception.  The company
 recently donated $50,000 to the Cleveland Museum of Art for community
 programming surrounding the renovation of the Armor Court.  Other initiatives
 are being planned for the Cleveland-area stores, including the introduction of
 a special school support program called "Apples for the Students."
 Representatives from area schools are invited to attend an informational
 meeting about this program on September 25 at the Cleveland Playhouse from
 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.
     According to Rego, customers who had Stop-N-Shop Preferred Shoppers Club
 Cards should have already received their Giant Eagle Advantage Card(R) in the
 mail.  From September 13 through October 31, shoppers can earn a free
 Thanksgiving turkey (or a grocery gift certificate) every time they use their
 new card to make purchases.  Shoppers without the Giant Eagle Advantage
 Card(R) can fill out an application at any store.
