65 Mousecars and the World's Largest Mousetrap; Truly Nolen Celebrates 65th Anniversary at Pro Player Stadium

Nov 05, 2003, 00:00 ET from Truly Nolen of America Inc.

HOLLYWOOD, Fla., Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Truly Nolen of America turned 65
years old today and celebrated in style.
The Tucson, Ariz.-based company commemorated its 65th anniversary with an
event at Pro Player Stadium in Miami. It was the first world record ever set
at the stadium, which just hosted the World Series Champion Florida Marlins.
Open to the public, the event featured a 65-mousecar procession, which
rolled into the stadium parking lot, as well as the unveiling of the world's
largest mousetrap, a 12-foot tall, 5 1/2-feet wide behemoth weighing more than
600 pounds that could conceivably crush one of the company's trademark
The trap was set off for the one-and-only time and was video documented
for inclusion in the Guinness Book of World Records. It has now headed out on
a tour of several cities serviced by Truly Nolen.
"You only turn 65 once and we wanted to do something memorable and fun,"
said Barry Murray, spokesman for Truly Nolen.
A lot has changed in the past 65 years, but what has remained constant is
that Truly Nolen has been at the forefront of the pest control industry. The
company has been involved in developing new eradication techniques, as well as
educating the public on the many pests that share their living and working
 environments, Murray said.
To put Truly Nolen's longevity into perspective, consider that in 1938,
Franklin D. Roosevelt was in his second term as President; Superman made his
comic book debut; the cost of a first class stamp was 3 cents; and the Chicago
Cubs made their last appearance in the World Series. Now that's a long time.
Founded by Truly Wheatfield Nolen, the company started with one office in
Miami, Fla. Joined later by his sons Truly David Nolen and Scott Nolen, his
company has done much to expand and improve the industry.
Today -- having grown into one of the largest family-owned pest control
companies in the world -- Truly Nolen boasts nearly 70 offices in Arizona,
California, Florida, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma and Utah.
The company services more than 150,000 customers and employs about 1,100
partners, with nearly half working as service technicians. Domestic franchises
are offered throughout the United States. International franchises are also
 established in 30-plus countries.
Truly Nolen of America is truly an American success story.
