'A Father's Anguish': Inspired by True Events, a Story of Vengeance, Justice, Fear and Hope

HERTFORD, N.C., Nov. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Chief detective Jim Eaton is determined to catch a serial rapist, while Jason Hewitt, in spite of an intensive manhunt, is driven by twisted perversions to rape and finally kill. Laura Stratton is a happy, outgoing young lady attending Elkins College. She is brutally beaten and raped while taking a late-night stroll. Not reporting her abuse, she gets into her car and drives two hours to home and family, harboring the hint of a clue that will identify her molester. John Stratton is tormented by his daughter's victimization, as any loving father would be. He sets on a course that destroys her abuser and nearly himself.

"A Father's Anguish" (published by iUniverse) was inspired by the rape of author Raymond Doyen's daughter and the search for her abuser. While the police search for a serial rapist, so too does the victim's father. Growing frustrated, the father finds his prey and kills him. The police must now switch gears from hunting a rapist to finding a killer. The detectives have mixed feelings about Stratton -- they too have daughters. Doyen's novel explores the psychology of abusers, of their victims, and of the family of victims. It examines sexual assaults, obsessive behavior and family love. "A Father's Anguish" brings awareness to the crime of rape, the ordeal that these women must endure, and the legal complexities that do not always support the victim.
