ABC Honors Top Contractors and Construction Projects in Delaware Valley

 

EAST NORRITON, Pa., Nov. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The Southeast Pennsylvania Chapter Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC SEPA) honored the top Merit Contractors and construction projects in the Greater Philadelphia region at its 19th Annual Merit Construction Awards of Excellence event on November 18 at the Radisson Valley Forge in King of Prussia, Pa.

"In these hard economic times it gives us great pride to recognize outstanding contractors for their exceptional hard work and craftsmanship. This year, we had 48 entries from across the Delaware Valley," said Geoffrey N. Zeh, ABC SEPA president and CEO. "Each project represents the value that Merit Construction has to offer."

Top honors went to Allan A. Myers in the Best General Contractor Over $10 million category. Other individual company honors went to Warfel Construction Company for the Best General Contractor Under $10 million; The Tri-M Group LLC for Best Specialty Contractor Over $10 million; Zebby Sulecki, Inc. for Best Specialty Contractor Under $10 million; Hilti, Inc. for Best Supplier Member and Aflac for Best Associate Member. The honorees were judged based on their commitment to safety, quality and training.

The 48 entries for this year's Merit Awards of Excellence program were judged by a team of 46 industry professionals representing a cross-section of architects, engineers, commercial real-estate owners, developers and industry leaders. Teams of judges visited each of the projects to evaluate the entries and determine the award winners.

Allan A. Myers also took top honors for its construction projects, receiving three Excellence Awards for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Widening, its Executive Farmhouse and Haverford Reserves. Warfel Construction Company took home two Excellence Awards for Washington College - Gibson Center for the Arts and Stauffers of Kissel Hill - Roherestown Supermarket.

W.S. Cumby, Inc. won both the second annual Green Build Award and an Excellence Award for the Mollie Dodd Anderson Library at George School.

Excellence Awards were also presented to Wohlsen Construction Company for the Phoenixville Hospital - OR Expansion, EDiS Company for the Carbon Nanoprobes Nanotechnology Facility, Pancoast & Clifford, Inc. for the CTDI Warehouse Expansion, C. Raymond Davis for the White Horse Village Villas and E. Allen Reeves for the Presby's Inspired Life - Rydal Park Dining Facility. CVM Construction received a Unique Construction Award for the University of Pennsylvania's Morris Arboretum "Out on a Limb" Tree Walk Adventure.

ABC's specialty contractors also received Excellence Awards for their projects, including McCarthy Masonry & Concrete Inc. for the Valley Run Farm, Worth & Company, Inc. for the mechanical work at the James A. Michener Art Museum, Gillespie Electric, Inc. for SKF U.S.A. Incorporated and the Tri-M Group, LLC for the solar installation at the NADE Auction Facility.
