Active Life Announces Launch of Next Generation BioDentTM for Life Science Research
SANTA BARBARA, Calif., Sept. 18, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Active Life Scientific, Inc. announced today the launch of the next generation Reference Point Indenter, BioDentTM Hfc, to occur on October 12 at the 2012 American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR) Annual Meeting in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
BioDentTM provides life science researchers previously impossible means to measure material properties of tissues in vivo. "By listening to the needs of top life scientists world-wide, we developed a one-of-a-kind product for researchers," said Davis Brimer, Active Life's Chief Executive Officer. "BioDentTM users are at the forefront of research and are quickly gaining a competitive edge in their field. The next generation BioDentTM provides an excellent entry point for collecting increasingly important tissue-level material property data."
Applications are under development for measuring material properties of a multitude of tissues. Initially, Active Life is focused on supporting bone tissue applications, making ASBMR an ideal launch location. "Several key opinion leader BioDentTM users were selected to present their groundbreaking research at the conference," said Chris Mazzochi, PhD, Active Life's Field Applications Scientist. "These presentations highlight the growing value of Reference Point Indentation data in bone research. The intuitive BioDentTM Hfc interface has enabled initial users to spend little time learning the technology, thereby maximizing their time collecting and reporting important results."
About Active Life
Active Life Scientific, Inc., a Santa Barbara, CA based company, is developing life science and medical tools for previously impossible in vivo measures of biological material properties through Reference Point Indentation (RPI). RPI is renowned inventor Dr. Paul Hansma's most recent breakthrough designed to quantitatively measure properties that are directly related to biological tissue health and propensity to failure. Initial applications include lab and clinical research of bone fracture risk and effects of osteoporosis treatments. The Company is expanding its offerings to meet increasing customer demand for testing tissues in addition to bone. Active Life's mission is to provide tools for measuring biological material properties in vivo to accelerate new strategies for the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal diseases and disorders.
