Plus DC Systems Continues as Demand Escalates for Solar-Cell Products

Jun 20, 2006, 01:00 ET from Advanced Energy Industries, Inc.

FORT COLLINS, Colo., June 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Advanced Energy
Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq: AEIS) today announced that Hungary-based Kisgazda
 Polgari Egyesulet (KPE) -- a high-growth, solar-cell original equipment
manufacturer (OEM) -- has ordered multiple RF and DC power-delivery systems
for integration into their plasma-enhanced, chemical vapor deposition
(PECVD) and physical vapor deposition (PVD) solar-cell manufacturing
equipment. The orders call for AE to provide 50 MW of solar-cell production
capacity in 2006. AE has already delivered power supplies for systems with
a capacity of 15 MW so far this year.

"We were looking for a power systems partner with whom we could enjoy a
long-term, mutually beneficial relationship. AE is that company," noted the
KPE's General Manager, Attila Horvath. "Because we sell complete solar-cell
manufacturing equipment to companies in Thailand, China, Vietnam as well as
other countries, it is critical that we work with a company possessing a
strong and responsive global sales and support infrastructure. AE's power
delivery systems contribute to our success by providing the repeatability
and reliability that enable us to meet the increasing global demand for
 solar-cell equipment."
Dr. Hans Betz, president and CEO of AE, explained, "We are very pleased
with the multi-system orders that will supply 50 MW capacity to this valued
customer. As the solar-cell market segment grows, AE is well positioned
with technology solutions that enable our global customers to benefit from
continued industry growth. We look forward to furthering our relationship
with KPE by providing advanced technology and global support to enhance
their business success in the high-growth solar-cell markets."
     The AE Power Systems
Cesar RF generators are designed to meet demanding, plasma process
requirements. They are available in a wide variety of frequencies (from 2
to 60 MHz) and a wide variety of power levels (from 300 W to 5 kW). Both
water-cooled and air-cooled models are available. Standard features include
an active front panel, large LCD display, user-friendly software, analog
and serial user interfaces as well as controls for VarioMatch(TM) matching
networks. Cesar generators are CE compliant and use field-proven Class E
architecture, which enable their compact, lightweight design.
Pinnacle Plus+ pulsed DC power supplies provide higher deposition
rates, more repeatable performance and exceptional film quality compared to
complicated AC-power solutions for reactive sputtering and complex metallic
sputtering processes. They combine standard DC technology and
process-proven pulsed-DC technology patented by AE. Available in single-
and dual-output 5 kW and single-output 10 kW models, they provide
 individually controllable dual-output pulsed DC power from a single unit;
increased process flexibility (up to 350 kHz pulsing, wide full power
operating voltage range); active front panel; and CE compliance.
