Alex Lopez Negrete Appointed to White House Commission for National Latino Museum

HOUSTON, Jan. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- President George W. Bush has appointed Alex Lopez Negrete, president and CEO of Lopez Negrete Communications, to serve on a commission to study the establishment of a National Museum dedicated to American Latinos. The Museum would document 500 years of American Latino contributions to the United States and house thousands of artifacts, images and personal stories.

The Commission to Study the Potential Creation of the National Museum of the American Latino Act of 2007 was signed into law by President Bush on May 8, 2008. Lopez Negrete is one of seven commission appointees named to the committee.

The Commission will be responsible for conducting a national conference to bring stakeholders, experts, policymakers and other interested parties together to discuss the Museum's viability, a fundraising plan to create an extensive public-private partnership, and, ultimately, submit a report to Congress.

Lopez Negrete is the sole marketer to be appointed to The National Museum of the American Latino Commission. He was also appointed by President George W. Bush in March 2002 to the President's Advisory Committee on the Arts for the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
