The Association also announced the addition of two new member companies during the meeting. American Metal Chemical Corporation "AMCOR", of Medina, OH and Superior Flux and Manufacturing of Cleveland, OH, both of which provide goods and services to the aluminum industry, will join as Associate members.
AMCOR was established in 1967 and develops, manufactures and supplies specially formulated chemical compounds called fluxes to the aluminum industry. Founded in 1932, Superior Flux specializes in the development and sale of flux products for aluminum soldering, brazing and welding.
"It's exciting to welcome AMCOR and Superior Flux into the Association," said Aluminum Association President Heidi Brock. "I'm pleased that we are continuing to grow our membership with a broad cross-section of the industry."
The Aluminum Association is working to continually advance and promote aluminum as the sustainable material of choice in the modern world. New applications for the metal in transportation, building and construction and other markets are driving demand for aluminum in North America. Between 2009 and today, aluminum demand has risen 30 percent and is approaching pre-recession levels. Additionally, the industry has proactively taken steps in recent years to reduce its own carbon footprint by cutting North American perfluorocarbon (PFC) emissions by 85 percent.
