Ambassador Houda Nonoo Praises National Commission's Report, Highlights Bahrain's Ongoing Reform Efforts

WASHINGTON, March 21, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Bahrain's Ambassador to the United States, Houda Nonoo, commended the work of Bahrain's National Commission following the submission yesterday of its progress report on the implementation of recommendations from the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry Report.

The National Commission had a short time to accomplish a monumentally important task. The BICI Report offered Bahrain an opportunity not only to learn the truth about what happened last February and March, but also to act upon it and make meaningful reform. In four short months, Bahrain has undertaken important reforms that have resulted in meaningful change. The work is ongoing and we recognize there is more to do," she said in a statement on her blog. Ambassador Nonoo also praised His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for his ongoing commitment to reform in Bahrain.

"Over ten years ago, His Majesty the King instituted a reform process that has brought meaningful change to Bahrain. And despite assertions to the contrary, this process has never stopped," she said. "We have learned important lessons from the events of last February and March. Bahrain is committed to building a better future for all its people."
