The ADCOLOR Awards & Industry Conference honored Ameredia Founder and Principal Pawan J. Mehra as a 2011 Change Agent. He was chosen for his off-the-beaten-path approach to multicultural marketing that brings a fresh perspective to the industry, defining and influencing its growth.
"We are about total inclusion and valuing diversity in its entirety," Mehra remarked during the awards ceremony held at the legendary Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on Sept. 17. "This award is an affirmation of our vision and success in the industry. We promise to continue on this path and always remember to give back and reach back."
Mehra joined the ranks of 19 other ADCOLOR honorees that have similarly advanced diversity and inclusion within their industries, such as comedian George Lopez, movie director Spike Lee, Draftfcb CEO Laurence Boschetto and Wieden + Kennedy Co-founder and CEO Dan Wieden. Past award recipients span from iconic Hispanic talk-show host Cristina Saralegui to Hollywood superstar Queen Latifah. A full list of past and present ADCOLOR Award honorees can be found on the ADCOLOR website.
Mehra also participated in a "Just Say No To Exclusion" panel on Sept. 16 moderated by Boschetto, where he weighed in on best practices for increased diversity and inclusion at the corporate, agency and community levels. The all-star panel included Esther Franklin, director of cultural identities at Starcom Mediavest Group; Aldo Quevedo, president and chief creative officer at Dieste; and Steve Stoute, founder of Translation.
Ameredia was represented by its core team and partners, including President and CEO of the US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce, Susan Au Allen. The celebrations also saw the appearance of CNN's Soledad O'Brien, who introduced key panels and hosted a special screening of the latest documentary in her "Latino in America" series.
Since 2003, Mehra has spearheaded Ameredia's emergence as one of the fastest-growing multicultural advertising firms in the nation. His spirited passion and vision for an all-inclusive, fully diverse marketing approach gave birth to Ameredia – one of only a few agencies that focuses on both larger, well-established groups like Hispanics and African-Americans as well as emerging segments like Asians, Europeans, Middle Easterners and Pacific Islanders.
The agency's growth has come from partnerships established within the private, public, and nonprofit sectors and a renowned team of global agency professionals. As American consumers become increasingly more diverse, intermixed and multicultural, Ameredia continues to build its expertise and success in these expanding diverse markets that together account for an excess of $1.5 trillion in annual purchasing power.
