America CV Network Closes First Quarter of 2013 with Remarkable Growth in Ratings in all Key Demographics for Miami DMA
MIAMI, April 2, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- America CV Network announced today its remarkable growth in ratings in all key demographics for the Miami DMA. Its flagship station, America Teve, concluded the first quarter with a successful growth of 14% in the Adults 25-54 demographic for its Early Fringe day-part (M-F 3PM-7PM), and a solid increase of 11% in that same demographic for its established prime-time day-part (M-F 7PM-11PM) (4th Quarter 2012 average vs. 1st Quarter 2013 average).
The extraordinary coverage of the latest Venezuelan political news and the pope's election, generated a growth of 8% in Persons 25-54 for "AN5" (WFUN M-F 5PM) from quarter to quarter. Highlights of the pope's election coverage included live transmissions from St. Peter's Square and an interview with Maria Elena Bergoglio, the sister of Pope Francis, directly from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Thanks to its consistent journalistic excellence, WFUN Early News experienced an increase of 45% in Persons 25-54 and an increase of 38% in Persons 18-49 from February 2013 to March 2013. Point in fact, WFUN Early News delivered higher ratings than WLTV Univision 23 in 11 out of the 21 telecasts in March 2013 (Hispanic Households Ratings). America Teve foresees this trend to continue as new investments in technological platforms and human capital for its 60 person news department are under-way for the 2nd quarter of 2013.
Additionally, all other newscasts experienced increases, most notably, "AN6" (WFUN M-F 6PM) experienced consistent growth throughout the quarter as shown by an increase of 15% in Hispanic Households ratings, 29% in Persons 25-54 ratings and 17% increase in Persons 18-49. "AN10" (WFUN M-F Late News) grew 12% in ratings for Persons 25-54 (4th Quarter 2012 average vs. 1st Quarter 2013 average). "Al Cierre" (WFUN M-F Late News 11pm) achieved an increase of 50% in Persons 18-34. (December 2012 vs. March 2013).
America Teve's entertainment and variety shows achieved great growth during the first quarter of 2013. America Teve's premier local talent competition show "Minuto de Fama" (M-F 6:30PM) experienced growth in all key demographics: 20% in Persons 18-49, 14% in Persons 25-54, and 17% in Persons 50+.
Miami's Hispanic audience continues to embrace "El Happy Hour" (M-F 7PM), a live variety show hosted by the beloved comedian Carlucho featuring exciting guests, sketch comedy and musical performances. "El Happy Hour" grew 13% in Persons 18-49 and 27% in Persons 25-54 (4th Quarter 2012 average vs. 1st Quarter 2013 average). "El Happy Hour" delivered 75% more Persons 25-54 ratings and 171% more P50+ ratings than its direct competitor "El Show de Fernando Hidalgo" (WSBS MegaTV).
Miami nights continue to shine with America Teve's "TN3" (M-F 9PM), a one of a kind variety show featuring musical segments, live house band and the brazen entertainment that makes a difference in Miami's Spanish TV nights. "TN3" delivered 114% more P18-49 ratings and 168% more P50+ ratings than its nearest competitor "Esta Noche Tu Night" on WSBS MegaTV. "TN3" grew 11% in Persons 25-54 from quarter to quarter.
Boosting America Teve's increase in its Early Fringe day-part ratings was "Arrebatados" (M-F 3PM), America Teve WFUN's debate show hosted by Maria Laria and Oscar Pyzyk. "Arrebatados" experienced a positive trend throughout the quarter in Hispanic Households as well as in all key demographics. "Arrebatados" grew 67% in Persons 18-49 ratings from quarter to quarter. In March 2013, "Arrebatados" matched the ratings of Univision 23 WLTV on that same time period and delivered twice the audience of "Laura" on Unimas.
Additionally, America Teve WFUN's Telenovela "El Profeta" (M-F 4PM), produced by GloboTV and premiered on January 3rd, has taken Miami's hispanic audience by storm with its passionate story of forbidden love. "El Profeta" experienced a growth of 75% in Females 25-54, while Univision "El Gordo y la Flaca" experienced a loss of 34% and Unimas "Caso Cerrado" lost 40% (January 2013 vs. March 2013). Males 25-54 are also captivated by this classical love story and their viewership levels increased 200% from January to March. Viewership in Persons 50+ increased 70% (January 2013 vs March 2013). "El Profeta" is set to have its grand finale in May.
Finally, America Teve's debate and opinion shows "A Mano Limpia" (M-F 8PM) and "Sevcec a Fondo" (M-F 10:30PM) maintained their viewership levels and delivered solid ratings in all demographics. "A Mano Limpia," formerly hosted by Oscar Haza, showed consistent ratings in Persons 25-54, primarily driven by a growth of 25% in Males 25-54 (December 2012 vs. March 2013). "Sevcec a Fondo," hosted by the Emmy® award winning journalist Pedro Sevcec continues to engage Millennials (Persons 18-34) with his in-depth and avant-garde coverage of major news events. His audience within this important demographic segment grew an impressive 120% (January 2013 vs March 2013), while all other stations trended downwards in that same time period. Ratings in Persons 25-54 for "Sevcec a Fondo" also continue to trend upwards as shown by a 22% increase in viewership levels (January 2013 vs. March 2013).
New and exciting programming updates will be communicated in the next few days, as America Teve's executives re-group after the departure of Oscar Haza from its prime-time line-up. Pedro Sevcec is scheduled to be the central figure of America Teve's prime-time lineup, and Juan Manuel Cao will debut with his own show soon.
