MIAMI, Aug. 25, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The American Competitiveness Alliance (ACAlliance), a leader in calling for immigration reform that strengthens our modernizing economy, will host a forum in South Florida on Thursday, August 27th at Carlos Albizu University. The forum will focus on how immigration reform can help America maintain its status as an economic superpower and remain the top destination for the world's brightest talent.
Expert speakers will include former U.S. Treasurer and ACAlliance Co-Chair Rosario Marin, Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (FL-27), and Congressman Carlos Curbelo (FL-26). Congressman Lincoln Diaz-Balart, chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI), will serve as moderator for the event, which is open to media and the public.
"We need to think about immigration reform not only in terms of social justice, but in terms of our economic security and prosperity," said Marin. "We don't hear enough about immigration reform's vital role in creating jobs, generating business growth, and sustaining our competitive economic advantage over other countries. We live in a globalized economy now— it's time to address that reality openly and honestly."
The forum will explore how our knowledge-based economy relies on the talent of highly-educated, skilled workers from around the world to ensure that American companies have the talent they need to remain competitive in the global market, and further, how immigration reform policies could enhance growth and create jobs within Florida and Florida-based businesses.
