Includes Service to Three New Destinations in the Bahamas

FORT WORTH, Texas, Nov. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- American Eagle Airlines, the regional affiliate of American Airlines, today began nonstop jet service from Miami International Airport (MIA) to Charleston, S.C. and Knoxville, Tenn., as well as to Eleuthera and Treasure Cay in the Bahamas. New service to Governor's Harbour, Bahamas, begins Nov 20.

"As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of our Miami hub, we are delighted to launch service to these cities. With these additions, American and American Eagle will operate 276 daily flights from our Miami hub, the most flights ever from Miami," said Peter Dolara, American's Senior Vice President based in Miami. "Connecting small and medium-sized cities to American's global network is one of Eagle's key missions, and these new flights are sure to benefit customers in South Florida and throughout American's network."

"New service is always welcome, since it expands our reach into the marketplace and further strengthens Miami as a destination," said William D. Talbert III, President & CEO of the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau. "The strength of the destination continues to be our domestic and international appeal as a tropical and cosmopolitan destination and our role as a critical gateway to the Americas. We fully recognize the importance of American and American Eagle in Miami, and we are making significant investments to ensure their continued growth and are truly appreciative that they are continuing to invest in our community as well."

These five new markets offer travelers a variety of options from Miami:

Charleston, S.C. - Rich in history and a favorite tourist destination for those seeking luxury hotels, award-winning restaurants and quality shopping, Charleston also boasts a significant military presence, home to The Citadel Military College and the Charleston Air Force base. In addition to this new daily flight from Miami, American Eagle serves Charleston with daily non-stop flights from its hub in Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW).

Knoxville, Tenn. - Set in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains, visitors can experience the beauty that the fall season brings to East Tennessee. While there visitors can take in a University of Tennessee Volunteers football game or any number of cultural events, from blues to bluegrass.

Eleuthera, Treasure Cay and Governor's Harbour, Bahamas - Known collectively as the "Out Islands," these three new destinations offer absolute relaxation and endless unspoiled beaches. In addition to American Eagle's current Bahamian service to Nassau, Freeport, Marsh Harbour and Georgetown, these new destinations provide more choices to the Bahamas than ever before.
