America's Largest Turkey Producer Moves to Wake County
Butterball, LLC Will Create Jobs, Opportunities In Relocation Of Corporate
Headquarters To Garner's Greenfield North Business Park
GARNER, N.C., Aug. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Butterball, LLC, the nation's
largest turkey producer, has announced it will relocate its corporate
headquarters from Mount Olive, N.C., to Garner, N.C., in spring 2008. The
company's more than $12 million investment in Garner's Greenfield North
business park will add approximately 70 corporate and executive-level
management jobs to the local community over the next three years.
Butterball, LLC, the new company formed after Carolina Turkeys'
acquisition of the Butterball brand in 2006, evaluated locations throughout
the country for its corporate headquarters to accommodate needs for
additional space and easy access to an international airport.
"Our company has a strong tradition in North Carolina dating back to
1986, and we are proud that our headquarters will remain in our great
state," said Keith Shoemaker, President and CEO of Butterball, LLC. "We
quickly realized that Garner offers us numerous advantages. We are a big
company with a family culture, and the town of Garner gives us a hometown
base within easy reach of all the amenities the Triangle has to offer - an
international airport, a talented labor pool and a vibrant business
climate."
Butterball, LLC will occupy 46,000 square feet of office space on more
than 12 acres in Greenfield North, located near Interstate 40 and U.S. 70.
Construction will take place in two phases. The first phase is expected to
be complete in Spring 2008, and a groundbreaking ceremony is being
scheduled for September.
Tri Properties Corporate Services Division, based in Durham,
represented Butterball, LLC in the world headquarters site search and
subsequent lease negotiations, and Craig Davis Properties manages
Greenfield North.
"I grew up in Garner, and I'm thrilled that Butterball recognizes what
I've known all these years: Garner is a great place to live and work," said
Garner Mayor Ronnie Williams. "This is a great day for Garner."
Neal Padgett, president of the Garner Chamber of Commerce, said
Butterball, LLC will be a strong addition to the town's growing business
community.
"Garner is the gateway to the Triangle - and through the Triangle, to
the entire world," Padgett said. "Garner is on the verge of rapid growth.
We're about to break wide open."
Butterball, LLC's new headquarters will contribute to the growth of
Greenfield North, located a few miles southeast of downtown Raleigh. It
offers a combination of industrial, office, flex and retail product types.
Salaries for Butterball LLC's workforce in Garner will vary by job
function, but the average will be higher than Wake County's average weekly
salary of $694, not including benefits.
