AMY THOMASES PROMOTED TO VICE PRESIDENT, EAST COAST PUBLICITY, FOR UNIVERSAL PICTURES
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Amy Thomases has been promoted to Vice President, East Coast publicity, for Universal Pictures, it was announced today by Michael Moses, Executive Vice President, national publicity. (Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20030923/LATU072 ) Ms. Thomases, who previously served as director, East Coast publicity for Universal, now heads the department's New York office, where she will oversee all publicity activity for Universal's feature films and supervise the New York publicity staff. She will report to Mr. Moses. "Amy has proven herself capable of turning around miracles in New York," stated Mr. Moses. "Her enthusiasm, intelligence, tenacity and character combine to make her an unstoppable force in the tough, competitive world of New York publicity. Ms. Thomases is a ten-year veteran of Universal Publicity, first joining the company in 1993 as an assistant. Since that time, she has worked her way up in the department in incremental steps, from junior publicist to her most recent position as director, where she has been responsible for broadcast publicity in all New York-based outlets. Over this time, she has worked on such notable campaigns as "Seabiscuit," "Bruce Almighty," "8 Mile," "The Fast and the Furious," "A Beautiful Mind," "Meet the Parents," "The Grinch," "Erin Brockovich," "The Hurricane," "American Pie," "Jurassic Park," "Apollo 13," "Babe" and "Schindler's List." She will serve as a key strategist and oversee the execution of Universal's upcoming campaigns on the East Coast for such titles as "The Rundown," "Intolerable Cruelty," "Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat," "Love Actually," "Peter Pan" and "Van Helsing." Ms. Thomases graduated with cum laude honors and a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1993 from the State University of New York at Albany.
