Arby's Market Fresh(TM) Sandwiches Prove That Quality Makes A Lasting Impression

Celebrating The First Anniversary Of Its Nationwide Launch, Arby's(R) Adds

Roast Turkey, Ranch And Bacon Sandwich To Its Permanent Market Fresh Menu

    FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., May 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- When Arby's
introduced the Market Fresh sandwich line in May 2001, the company knew it was
on to something big -- a fresh product that would help raise the bar on fast
food quality. That vision was on target. In a remarkable feat for a product
that has only been incorporated on a fast food menu for one year, the Market
Fresh line of deli-style sandwiches now comprises 9-15% of the company's menu
 sales.

"Market Fresh has differentiated Arby's from other top-tier quick service
companies," said former QSR Magazine's Editor Lea Davis. "Presenting a simple,
comfort food like a sandwich available in drive-thrus has given Arby's the
opportunity to truly surprise customers with the sheer quality of the
ingredients -- from the redness of the tomato, to the soft, thickness of the
 honey-wheat bread."
Arby's is also announcing today a fifth sandwich addition to the Market
Fresh line: Roast Turkey, Ranch and Bacon. It was a limited time-only menu
item when introduced in March, but because of its popularity it soon became
evident the sandwich deserved a permanent spot on the Arby's Market Fresh
menu. The Roast Turkey, Ranch and Bacon sandwich, loaded with fresh roasted
turkey, creamy ranch dressing, pepper bacon, leaf lettuce and fresh tomatoes,
rests between two slices of thick-cut honey-wheat bread. It is available
 nationwide this month.
"It's not a matter of upsizing or changing our packaging -- we've
introduced a different menu concept," said Michael Howe, President and CEO of
Arby's, Inc., d/b/a Triarc Restaurant Group. "Market Fresh has redefined the
fast food playing field. When consumers unwrap a Market Fresh sandwich for the
first time, they should be taken aback by the level of quality and flavor
we've managed to capture between slices of bread! As a system, we are
consumed with living up to the high standards of quality that we have set for
ourselves and meeting the demands that consumers have come to expect from
 Arby's."
Fueled by the success of the new sandwich line, Arby's has experienced
several months of increased same store sales and plans to continue developing
Market Fresh for the line, including limited time-only options like the Market
Fresh Ultimate BLT. Market Fresh has made good on its claims of higher
quality and freshness, not only becoming a permanent fixture on the Arby 's
menu, but also securing the company's position as a fast casual alternative
 for customers with mature tastes.
Arby's, Inc., d/b/a Triarc Restaurant Group, is a subsidiary of the Triarc
Companies, Inc. (NYSE: TRY) that services more than 3,300 restaurants
 worldwide, including the Arby's(R), T.J. Cinnamons(R) and Pasta Connection(R)
 brands.
