ARCADIS Sells Part of its German Operations to Obermeyer

AMSTERDAM, September 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ARCADIS (EURONEXT: ARCAD), the international design, consulting, engineering and management services company, today announced that it has sold a part of its German infrastructural design and engineering services to Obermeyer Planen + Beraten GmbH. In this asset deal, approximately 50 people from ARCADIS will be transferred to Obermeyer with their associated workload and contracts. Altogether this represents some EUR 4.5 million in gross revenue. Further financial details were not disclosed. ARCADIS simultaneously entered into a cooperation agreement with Obermeyer, ensuring a seamless transition for clients.

The deal is the result of a strategic reorientation of the ARCADIS activities in Germany, whereby the focus is shifted to activities higher in the value chain in environment, project management, water and geotechnics, in line with the strategy of the group as a whole. The activities were concentrated in the Kaiserslautern office, making the transfer relatively easy to complete.

Commenting on this step, Stephanie Hottenhuis, CEO for the ARCADIS activities in Germany said: "We have thoroughly reviewed our current activities, to ensure that we create maximum value added for our clients in the projects we perform. Within the specific segment of infrastructure design and engineering in which this part of the Kaiserslautern office operated, there was insufficient opportunity to create this situation, leading to the decision to divest it. We remain strongly represented with an environmental team in Kaiserslautern, and will focus our energy on growing these activities consistent with our global strategy".
