The "Together We Can" food drive was hosted November 1 through November 23 at all Art Van Furniture stores throughout metro Detroit, including the Ann Arbor, Flint, Port Huron and Howell locations. The campaign is part of the Midwest's number one furniture and mattress retailer and WXYZ's ongoing efforts to end hunger across Southeastern Michigan through its partnership with Gleaners. Last year alone, Gleaners distributed over 34.5 million pounds of emergency food to more than 535 soup kitchens, shelters and pantries in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston and Monroe counties.
"It is remarkable and inspiring to witness the significant donations contributed through the 'Together We Can' community food drive year-after-year," said Gleaners Food Drive Manager Stephanie Melnick. "Art Van Furniture and WXYZ are strong corporate citizens for our organization and have seamlessly rallied community members together to bring joy and nourishment to our neighbors in need during one of the most critical times of the year."
