Vinings Gallery and Thomas Arvid Fine Art hosted an extraordinary evening filled with viewing renowned artwork while tasting wine from three of Napa and Sonoma Valley's most prestigious wineries. Each winery's pour was expertly paired based on flavor and body with gourmet appetizers prepared from three of Atlanta's finest restaurants.
Over 200+ guests enjoyed three different wines at the event, which were generously donated by Flora Springs Winery and Vineyard, Benziger Family Winery and Joseph Phelps Vineyards. Each varietal was tasted with a complimentary gourmet appetizer donated and personally served by three Atlanta restaurants. Each restaurant was hand-selected as Arvid's personal favorites - Capers, Dogwood Terrace and Aspens Signature Steaks.
Arvid's oversized still life compositions of wine and the rituals surrounding it were on display at the event and each of the 11 pieces sold created a donation to the community's breast cancer fundraiser. An amazing Silent Auction produced additional donations and featured such unique items as a personal tour of the Whitehouse, a private dinner at The Club at Chops for 6 guests, cosmetic dental services, and vacation & sporting packages. A complete list of donors and sponsors are listed on the website at http://www.gtcgivesback.com. Mark Howard of Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith, Inc., whose company was a sponsor, commented, "We are honored to help support the efforts of the owners at Governors Towne Club to fight breast cancer. The wine and art event with Thomas Arvid was a night that everyone seemed to truly enjoy. First Class in every way."
The two-day fundraiser was completed with a tennis tournament on Saturday where over 120 athletes of all ages played tennis and competitive games to raise funds to support this year's fundraiser. Gwen Buller and Julie Henry, Co-Chairs for the 2010 GTC Gives Back Weekend Breast Cancer Fundraiser announced today that the donation raised for both events totaled $64,754, exceeding last year's donations by more than $49,000.
