Artist Amanda Putty Exposes Hedge Fund Behavior
SAN FRANCISCO, July 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Artist Amanda Putty exposes
sexist behavior of hedge fund managers in a recent series of photorealistic
paintings entitled "Hedge Fund Girls." The paintings depict quintessential
fantasies of hedge fund managers -- fantasies of money and power involving
women. The artist, who paints under a pseudonym, has an insider's knowledge
of hedge fund fantasies and attitudes, having worked in the industry for
the past seven years.
The paintings (approximately 4 by 5 feet) portray women as hedge fund
managers, almost exclusively male, envision them: as baby dolls,
mistresses, trophy wives, cupcakes, collectibles and playthings. Ms.
Putty's work has been called "shocking," "illuminating," and "crusading."
On the other hand, one male hedge fund manager has called her work
"entertaining."
