ASC seeks to reciprocate bans against Steven Vincent Weeres and Rebekah Donszelmann
CALGARY, Feb. 28, 2013 /CNW/ - Alberta Securities Commission (ASC) staff are seeking to reciprocate an order imposed by the New Brunswick Securities Commission (NBSC) against Steven Vincent Weeres and Rebekah Donszelmann (a.k.a. Rebekah Louise Weeres ) of Alberta.
On March 15, 2012, the NBSC ordered, among other things, that Weeres be permanently banned and Donszelmann be banned for 20 years from the New Brunswick capital market. The NBSC panel found that Weeres and Donszelmann traded in securities without being registered and without a prospectus, and that Weeres made prohibited representations, committed fraud and made untrue and misleading representations.
The ASC seeks to reciprocate the NBSC order to protect Alberta investors and the Alberta capital market.
It is anticipated that the ASC panel will consider this application in March 2013.
A copy of the Notice of Hearing is available on the ASC website at www.albertasecurities.com.
The ASC is the regulatory agency responsible for administering the province's securities laws. It is entrusted to foster a fair and efficient capital market in Alberta and to protect investors. As a member of the Canadian Securities Administrators, the ASC works to improve, coordinate and harmonize the regulation of Canada's capital markets.
