ATA Board of Directors Names Quinn New Treasurer
ARLINGTON, Va., Dec. 9 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The American Trucking Associations' (ATA) Board of Directors has named Patrick E. Quinn, Co-Chairman and President of U.S. Xpress Enterprises, as Treasurer, effective immediately.
Quinn previously served as ATA Chairman from 2005 to 2007 and is also a past Chairman of the Truckload Carriers Association. An initial member of the ATA's Image & Communications Committee, Quinn has been a frequent public speaker and advocate for the trucking industry.

A native of Nebraska, Quinn received a B.A. degree from the University of Nebraska in 1968 and a J.D. degree from the University of Nebraska College Of Law in 1971. He practiced law in Lincoln, Neb. from 1971 through 1977, and was a partner in the law firm of Nelson and Harding, where he specialized in transportation law. In 1977, he joined Southwest Equipment Rental, Inc. as Vice President and General Counsel and was named Executive Vice President and General Manager in 1984.
Quinn and Max L. Fuller formed U.S. Xpress, Inc. in 1985 and still own the company. U.S. Xpress is recognized as a service, safety and technology leader in the trucking industry, earning an award for innovation from the Smithsonian Institute in 2000. In 2004, U.S. Xpress achieved $1 billion in annual revenue and the Company was named the For-Hire Fleet of the Year by Fleet Owner magazine.
In 2006, Quinn received an appointment from former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist to the National Surface Transportation Policy and Revenue Study Commission, which held meetings and hearings for two years discussing the future of our nation's infrastructure. The Commission's Report to Congress was issued in January of 2008, and Quinn testified before both the House and Senate. Quinn currently serves on the Trade & Transportation Advisory Council for the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta.
In 1997 Quinn received the Alumni Achievement Award from the University of Nebraska. He currently serves on the board of trustees at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tenn. Quinn and his wife, Anna Marie, reside in Chattanooga. They have three children and seven grandchildren.
Quinn succeeds past Treasurer Bob Davidson, President and CEO of Arkansas Best Corporation in Fort Smith, Ark. Davidson will retire at the end of this year after nearly 38 years with the company. During his career with Arkansas Best Corporation, Davidson served in various areas including Vice President of Pricing and Vice President of Marketing. He was named to the Arkansas Best Corporation Board of Directors in 2004 and has been President and CEO since 2006.

The American Trucking Associations is the largest national trade association for the trucking industry.
