AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Audi of America has closed 2005 on a high with the best sales month of last year. December sales of 8,842 units were up 15.6%; almost all model lines reported a significant increase compared with December of 2004. 5,505 sales in December meant the new A4 range (A4/S4 sedan, Avant and Cabriolet) was up 11.6% month over month; the new A6 sold 17.4% more (1,767) than last December. On an annual view, Audi of America reported 83,066 units sold, one of the best results in Audi's US sales history. Again, winners were the A4 and A6 model lines, with an impressive 48,922 units of the A4/S4 range (up 3.7%) and 18,074 of the new A6 sedan and Avant sold year over year. The new Audi A3, introduced into the US market with a completely new marketing concept in May of 2005, sold in 5,389 units. Audi of America Executive Vice President Johan de Nysschen said: "Last year's sales were up despite a declining market and significantly reduced incentives. The Audi brand has enjoyed a tremendous success with our customers last year. As the first manufacturer Audi has received the highly coveted 'Double Best Pick Safety Award' by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety for no less than three model lines, the new A3, the new A4 and the new A6. The Audi A3 has been voted 'Best Sport Compact' in car magazine Car & Driver's 2005 TenBest Awards." de Nysschen, at the head of Audi of America since December 2004, went on saying: "Audi is offering its youngest model line in all of its history. But our success is based on more than just product. Never before has Audi opened up so many new Audi Exclusive dealerships like last year." Of 266 outlets in the United States, 87 are now Audi Exclusive, up from 75 last year. 2006 will see the introduction of even more exciting Audi products. The performance SUV from Audi, the new Audi Q7, will debut this summer as well as the high-performance Audi RS4 and S8 sedans.
