Fast-Growing Construction Firm Lands Three Prestigious 2009 Excellence in Construction Awards

FORT WORTH, Texas, Oct. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- AUI Contractors of Fort Worth recently received three coveted Excellence in Construction awards from TEXO. TEXO is the largest commercial contractors association in Texas. With over 1,900 members in North and East Texas, the association works to build a unified construction community by promoting loyalty and leadership.

Hurst Fire Station #2, in Hurst, Texas, won in the Commercial $5 - $10 Million Category. Designed by Wiginton Hooker Jeffry Architects, with offices in Plano, Austin, and Houston, this $5 million fire station blends mid-20th Century and modern station design as the initial project for the City's "Transforming Hurst" Initiative.

The Ethan Allen store in Southlake, Texas took the honors in the Pre-Engineered Building Category. The pre-engineered, prototypical design incorporates energy-saving Koreteck insulated panels along with rich interior and exterior finishes to create an attractive commercial property. DMS Architects, Inc. of Fort Worth provided architectural design for the project.

Winning in the Other Construction, $2 million - $100 million Category was Founders Park & Levitt Pavilion in Arlington, Texas. Designed by the architectural firm Gideon Toal of Fort Worth, the project's open radial design encourages city residents to relax and enjoy their surroundings in the outdoor plaza and pavilion. This project also won the 2009 Public Works Project of the Year, $2-10 million, from the APWA Texas Chapter.
