Austinites launch eco-friendly solution for countertops

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Austin's Custom Tops is Austin's eco-friendly solution to countertops. Austin natives and co-owners, Eric Riley and Shaun Hrncir, founded their company, amidst a waning economy, in an effort to help homeowners and builders reduce costs, while reducing their impact on the environment. With only a small number of other companies offering green products in Texas, Austin's Custom Tops have proven to be a pioneer in the industry with their new product, ECO(TM) by Cosentino.

ECO(TM) by Cosentino countertop is a sturdy and tenacious surface made of 75 percent recycled content consisting of post-industrial or post-consumer materials and is adhered by an environmentally friendly resin which comes in part from corn oil. This non-porous countertop comes with a warranty unlike other "green" countertops. One of the biggest positive feedbacks that we are getting from our customers is that they can gain points toward LEED Certification from the U.S. Green Building which will save them money. There are other eco-friendly surfacing materials in the market today, but no other reutilizes materials that have reached the end of their life cycle, thus saving on the creation and consumption of natural resources.

Spurred by their love of nature and the outdoors, Riley and Hrncir have been active in the environmental community, participating in groups such as the Sierra Club and the American Consumer Council. In an effort to preserve their beliefs when opening their business, Riley said they researched many variations of eco-friendly countertop options.
